Fruit in Isolation

These are challenging times for all God's image bearers, are they not? And for those of us who belong to Christ it feels like we are being forced to hide His light under a bushel. But we still have forms of communication left to us, and it's never been more important that we use them for the sake of Christ's kingdom.

We are not our own. We were bought with a price. Now we are called to glorify Christ in every aspect of our lives. That includes our time alone, and our time with others. It also includes our social media presence, which for many of us is now one of the only places where the light of Christ in us can shine.

So let's be circumspect in what we communicate and in how we communicate it, so that what we share (and how we comment) reflects the character of Jesus Christ as demonstrated by the fruits of His Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control" (I suggest writing those words on a post-it and referring to them every time you post.)

Yes, people will find our gospel offensive, but that is not a license for us to be. Let's take to heart the command of the apostle Paul, "Give no offense to Jews or to Greeks or to the church of God, just as I try to please everyone in everything I do, not seeking my own advantage, but that of many, that they may be saved" (1 Cor. 10:32). Let's make the gospel our priority and our guide and our great hope through these dark and difficult days.
